4 years in the making, Lyosha is my first LP. Conceptually I was inspired by the limitations of composers in the 80s and 90s that were tasked with making soundtracks to nearly everything, whether that be supermarket tunes, commercials, video games, morning TV, spa relaxation etc. Many had grand ambitions but were severely limited by tone generation technology and digital storage space. This led to squeezing juice out of stones, poring over literal spreadsheets and data that was supposed to be a simulacrum of the musicians they admired. It never quite hit the same as MJ, but sometimes observing a familiar object through a unique lens is just as good as seeing something new.

My process: Sparking life through simple sine waves late into the night, introducing feedback here and there, and searching for ghosts in the machine.

Lyosha will be released on July 22, 2021 on Bandcamp with HQ downloads. Available on streaming services on a later date. Many many hours were spent mixing and mastering this album, so it would be a shame to only hear it filtered through whatever algorithmic digital processing is currently in vogue.

FYI: All proceeds from this album will be donated to The National Down Syndrome Society.
